I'll stamp all over 'credible combatant' Paul - Anthony Joshua
The British boxer prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-round match which will be streamed in real-time on Netflix.
British boxer Anthony Joshua stated he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "overpower" his opponent as the combatants met personally to build hype for the upcoming heavyweight fight.
Former two time unified title holder Anthony Joshua faces social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a massive disparity - at Miami Kaseya Center on 19 December.
Boxer's Attitude
"I will injure his face and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate my superiority," the British boxer, 35, declared.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.
"I intend to really want to cause him pain. That's what I want to do."
Civil Exchange
In spite of these statements, a calm Anthony Joshua and internet personality Paul - typically known for his dramatics - shared friendly words and kept it respectful with each other.
Paul instead targeted ex Joshua's rival the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "not serious" after Ngannou declined a match opportunity.
Taking Aim at Tyson Fury
Anthony Joshua, in the meantime, targeted UK rival Tyson Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a Paul victory.
"[Paul] is better than Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua said.
"I acknowledge that."
Serious Opponent
In spite of stating he plans to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua declined to talk badly about his rival's pugilistic talent.
"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he remarked.
Jake Paul's History
Paul - who initially became famous on the Disney Channel - has primarily boxed mixed martial artists or declining opponents since entering professional boxing.
He was defeated by Briton Fury in 2023.
Commercial Attraction
Nevertheless, the novice is still one of boxing's largest commercial attractions, regularly earning massive paydays.
Prediction and Belief
The 28-year-old predicted a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would stop the much-anticipated match between Joshua and Fury, which is allegedly in the works for 2026.
"It's going to be my match with Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul declared.
Size Difference
As Joshua and Paul engaged in the usual stare-down, with their height and weight contrast on show, it drove home just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how amazing it is that the fight is actually proceeding.
